After I posted my thoughts and opinions concerning Senator Obama's pro-abortion beliefs, I was reprimanded by eight fellow Christians for being a "one issue voter". Though I clearly stated in my writings several reasons why I was opposed to Senator Obama, including economic, social, and judicial issues, my critics were convinced I was only opposed to Senator Obama because of his pro-abortion position. I will admit, the issue of LIFE trumps all others, but I have strong opinions on MANY issues.
The argument I was presented with by those Christians who justified their vote for a pro-abortion candidate was... "There's more to being President than just being pro-life. Besides, the President can't do anything about abortions... it's up to the courts." Well friends, that supposition was proven wrong on Friday January 23, when, with the stroke of a pen, President Barack Obama ended the ban on the Federal funding of abortion and pro-abortion groups in other countries which are the recipients of US Foreign Aid. In other words, he effectively signed the death warrants for thousands of innocent children, and those executions can now be paid for with our tax dollars, originally intended for humanitarian aid.
President Ronald Reagan first initiated the ban on US Foreign Aid dollars being spent for abortions or pro-abortion groups with an Executive Order. The ban remained in effect until it was lifted by President Bill Clinton in 1993. It was reinstated by President George W. Bush, shortly after he took office, and remained in effect until the "President who couldn't do anything about abortion" did something about it on January 23, when President Barack Obama signed the Executive Order freeing up the money... your money... to pay for abortion-on-demand in countries around the world under the guise of "Foreign Aid".
So... the question for those thousands, maybe millions of Christians who voted for "change" is... Is this the "change" you were talking about?
I hope all of us can come together and pray for our President. Pray that God would do a wonderful work in his heart that will cause him to "consider his ways" when making decisions that affect the lives of both the born and the unborn. All of us need and want President Obama to do the right things. He is, after all, our President. However, we can't expect God to intervene and "heal our land"... or our economy, if we don't humble ourselves and seek His way...first.

Amen Brother!
Gerald, you are right! People that this man is the great Messiah and it is the saddest thing in the world! I pray that he does good but everything so far says we are in for a long 4 years of some changes that I don't want to see!
Blessings,
Linda
Gerald, you are right! People adore this man and it scares me! I do pray that this man will let the Lord lead him! I think we may be in for a long 4 years of things to come that Christians don't want! Blessings to you for writing this
Linda
Pray! we MUST pray for our leaders. Paul told Timothy this day would arrive, and it has with a vengeance. Gerald, thank you for your honesty and conviction.
For me, if abortion is the only issue that helps you decide a president I say "fine". The life of an unborn child is important enough an issue on which to base my election decisions.
Thank you for your principled vote and your pro-life witness. We are very grateful!

Thank You Gerald for telling it like it is, all we can do now is pray that God will change his way of thinking. We also need to pray for our representatives to stand up for what is right.

Thank You Gerald for telling it like it is, all we can do now is pray that God will change his way of thinking and make Godly choices instead of mans choices. Also our representatives need to seek God not man. They need our prayers for God to lead them and stand up for what is right.

Brother Gerald:
I agree whole heartly with you regarding Pro-Life.....I have been Pro-Life ALL of my life.
Yet, never in my 51 years, would I ever vote for someone who is ideologically opposed to the sovereignty of our great nation.
Mr. Obama is NOT my president. There has never been a person in the White House who is so radically AGAINST the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. Our personal freedoms that we now enjoy, that our forefathers fought and died for, will be systematically destroyed piece by piece due to the single mindedness of this administration, whose head is Mr. Obama.
Pray? yes, yes, yes....a thousand times yes!
Enjoy GV music but absolutely adore the worship that occurs at a GV concert. You 3 are a wonderful example of how we, as Believers, should interact with the rest of humankind. Throwing bombs (figuratively) is counterproductive but gentle persuasion (such as yours Gerald) is a mighty weapon as is prayer. BHO needs our prayers as do all others who control our destiny). Keep on keeping on brothers.

I agree with you Gerald. The sad thing is that so many christians today neglect to remember one fact, a fact that is quite simple as you pointed out in you November blog. Christians should vote based on christian principal and morals, regardless of what people who live IN the world believe.
Where we of faith seem to fail is simply in our lack of faith in God's all encompassing power. If christians were to stand united in prayer and belief, abortion would not be legal today.
I did not vote for Obama as his very liberal beliefs go against the ones I have, however, now that he is president I will pray that God can work in his heart, open his eyes, and show him the path he should take.
God Bless
Blessings on you brother for "speaking the truth in love"...AMEN!

I totally agree! The moral and Biblical issues should always come before the economic issues and things that should be secondary in nature.
I totally agree with your pro-life stance! It's a sad day in this country when Christians would place more importance on economical issues and such things and less importance on the truths of God's Word, especially the sanctity of human life. Thanks for standing up for right, and standing up for God!
