After I posted my thoughts and opinions concerning Senator Obama's pro-abortion beliefs, I was reprimanded by eight fellow Christians for being a "one issue voter". Though I clearly stated in my writings several reasons why I was opposed to Senator Obama, including economic, social, and judicial issues, my critics were convinced I was only opposed to Senator Obama because of his pro-abortion position. I will admit, the issue of LIFE trumps all others, but I have strong opinions on MANY issues.
The argument I was presented with by those Christians who justified their vote for a pro-abortion candidate was... "There's more to being President than just being pro-life. Besides, the President can't do anything about abortions... it's up to the courts." Well friends, that supposition was proven wrong on Friday January 23, when, with the stroke of a pen, President Barack Obama ended the ban on the Federal funding of abortion and pro-abortion groups in other countries which are the recipients of US Foreign Aid. In other words, he effectively signed the death warrants for thousands of innocent children, and those executions can now be paid for with our tax dollars, originally intended for humanitarian aid.
President Ronald Reagan first initiated the ban on US Foreign Aid dollars being spent for abortions or pro-abortion groups with an Executive Order. The ban remained in effect until it was lifted by President Bill Clinton in 1993. It was reinstated by President George W. Bush, shortly after he took office, and remained in effect until the "President who couldn't do anything about abortion" did something about it on January 23, when President Barack Obama signed the Executive Order freeing up the money... your money... to pay for abortion-on-demand in countries around the world under the guise of "Foreign Aid".
So... the question for those thousands, maybe millions of Christians who voted for "change" is... Is this the "change" you were talking about?
I hope all of us can come together and pray for our President. Pray that God would do a wonderful work in his heart that will cause him to "consider his ways" when making decisions that affect the lives of both the born and the unborn. All of us need and want President Obama to do the right things. He is, after all, our President. However, we can't expect God to intervene and "heal our land"... or our economy, if we don't humble ourselves and seek His way...first.
